Commerce Department to comply with injunction blocking TikTok ban

The Commerce Department announced that it will not enforce a TikTok ban that was scheduled to take effect yesterday, noting that it will comply with a preliminary injunction (issued by a judge in October) that blocked the action. The Commerce Department initially announced the ban in September following an executive order issued by President Trump that called for a ban on “transactions” with the Chinese-owned video sharing app.

Extra: The decision follows a separate legal challenge filed by TikTok parent company ByteDance this week related to an executive order calling a sale of TikTok’s US business.
