ByteDance challenges executive order that would have required it to sell TikTok

ByteDance challenged an executive order that would have required it to sell TikTok’s US business no later than today in a US appeals court on Tuesday. President Trump issued the executive order in August (citing national security concerns), but ByteDance argued in its petition that the order was unlawful and that the company was not granted due process.

Extra: ByteDance announced a transaction including TikTok, Oracle, and Walmart in September (following the executive order), but the deal has not been formally approved by the US or Chinese government.
