DoD announces new transgender policies

The Defense Department released updated guidelines for transgender service members yesterday. The new guidelines prohibit gender identity-based discrimination, “provide a means by which to access into the military in one’s self-identified gender,” and provide a path for individuals to pursue gender transition. The guidelines follow a January executive order reversing the Trump administration’s transgender military policy.
