China and Russia plan to open Moon project

China and Russia agreed to jointly develop a research facility on the Moon. The International Scientific Lunar Station will be used for a wide range of research (including “exploration and utilization”) and will be available for use by other nations, according to a statement released yesterday. The announcement comes amid a growing focus on space exploration, including a Chinese mission to collect lunar samples in December and three recent Mars-related missions.
