The University of Southern California agreed to an $852M settlement over sexual abuse allegations against a former campus gynecologist. The settlement (agreed to with 710 former patients) brings the total amount paid by the university to state and federal plaintiffs to a record $1.1B.
More context: The doctor (George Tyndall) was charged with 29 criminal felonies in 2019. He has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.
