The House approved two immigration bills yesterday. The “American Dream and Promise Act” aims to provide legal status and a path to citizenship for certain undocumented immigrants brought to the US as children (known as “Dreamers” and protected under DACA). The “Farm Workforce Modernization Act” aims to provide legal status for certain agricultural workers.
More context: The outcome of the legislation (in addition to a broader immigration proposal unveiled by House Democrats last month) remains uncertain as Congress engages in several immigration-related discussions and negotiations.
