Facebook’s Oversight Board upheld the company’s decision to suspend former President Trump, but noted that the “indefinite” nature of the suspension was not appropriate. As part of the decision, the Oversight Board called on Facebook to reexamine and determine the appropriate penalty within the next six months. Here’s the full announcement.

Extra: The Facebook Oversight Board formally began operating in 2020. The independent board aims to review “ a select number of highly emblematic cases” related to Facebook’s content and determine if decisions were made “in accordance with Facebook’s stated values and policies.” Its decisions are binding.
