DOJ to open probe into Visa debit card practices

The Justice Department plans to open an investigation into Visa’s debit card practices, according to a company filing released on Friday. The investigation will reportedly probe whether Visa has engaged in anti-competitive behavior in the debit card market, which accounts for over 40% of Visa’s payments volume. Visa shares fell 6% on Friday following the news.
