California officials announced that 1.6M verified signatures have been collected for the recall of Governor Gavin Newsom, exceeding the 1.5M signatures required to trigger a recall election. The process now moves to a 30-business-day period where residents can withdraw their signatures, and a recall election will be held unless a “sufficient number of signatures” are withdrawn (source).
