World bank releases biennial report on poverty

The World Bank released its biennial report on poverty and shared prosperity yesterday. The report projects that ~9% of the global population could be living in “extreme poverty” by the end of 2021 (defined as living on less than $1.90 per day), increasing the previous estimate of 7.5% due to the economic fallout from the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
