847k people file for unemployment, dropping for second straight week

847k people filed for unemployment in the US last week, according to the Department of Labor’s weekly jobless claims report. While the tally marks the second consecutive weekly decline, jobless claims remained above the pre-coronavirus record of 695k (set in 1982) for the 45th consecutive week.
