USTR suspends retaliatory tariffs on French goods
The US Trade Representative suspended tariffs on French goods that were set to take effect on Wednesday. The tariffs were initially announced last year in response to France’s Digital Services Tax, which US regulators said unfairly targeted US tech firms (e.g. Google and Facebook). The USTR noted that it suspended the tariffs in order to facilitate a more coordinated response to similar taxes enacted in ten other jurisdictions (including the EU and UK).
