Federal authorities warn of potential cyberattacks on US healthcare system

Federal authorities issued an advisory that warns of “an increased and imminent cybercrime threat to US hospitals and healthcare providers” yesterday. The report was jointly issued by the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Health and Human Services, and notes that malicious actors may engage in ransomware attacks that aim to steal data or disrupt healthcare services. Here's the full advisory.

Extra: The advisory report follows a cyberattack on Universal Health Services (which operates over 250 hospitals) in September.
