Supreme Court allows census count to end early; new deadline Friday at 6am ET

The Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to end the 2020 census count early, overturning a lower court ruling. The Census Bureau initially announced plans to end the count one month early (on September 30) in August, citing a desire to meet the year-end deadline. That decision was subsequently challenged in court and was temporarily blocked in September.
