Southwest Airlines purchases 100 737 Max aircraft

Southwest Airlines agreed to purchase 100 737 Max airplanes from Boeing. The aircraft was initially grounded in March of 2019 after being involved in two fatal crashes but resumed service last year after regulators lifted restrictions. The deal marks the largest 737 Max order since the aircraft received regulatory approval last year, and Southwest noted that the purchase “reinforces the Company's confidence” in the aircraft as the “future of the Southwest fleet.”
