The lawsuit alleges that the defendants falsely claimed Smartmatic “fixed and rigged the 2020 election,” causing the company to sustain economic and reputational damage. A spokesperson for Fox News issued a statement defending the network’s election coverage and criticizing the lawsuit as “meritless.”
