Senate Republicans block bill to create a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6 Capitol attack
Senate Republicans blocked a bill to create a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6 Capitol attack, invoking the first filibuster of the Biden presidency on Friday. A 54-35 vote (with six Republicans in support) failed to reach the 60 votes necessary to advance the bill. The bill was passed in the House in May.
