Senate confirms new member of Fed board

Waller is currently the St. Louis Fed’s research director and, once sworn in, is expected to serve on the seven-member board until 2030. The confirmation comes as the fed continues to leverage a wide range of monetary policy tools (including near-zero interest rates) to combat the economic impact of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
