Biden announces plans to end US support for Saudi offensive in Yemen

President Biden announced that the US will end support for a Saudi-led military offensive in Yemen, citing humanitarian concerns and calling for diplomatic efforts to end the years-long conflict. Biden also noted that the US will continue to support Saudi Arabia’s defensive efforts against outside attacks.

More context: Iran-backed Houthi rebels seized control over parts of Yemen in 2015 and forced President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi to flee abroad, prompting a Saudi-led group to launch a campaign aimed at restoring Hadi’s government.
