Saudi activist sentenced to nearly six years in prison

Saudi women’s rights activist Loujain al-Hathloul was sentenced to nearly six years in prison yesterday. Hathloul was detained in 2018 and convicted on national-security related charges. Critics of the decision (including Amnesty International) suggested the conviction was used as a means of repression.
