Russian court labels Navalny-linked groups as extremist

A Russian court outlawed organizations affiliated with opposition leader Alexei Navalny, labeling the groups as “extremist.” The ruling prohibits people associated with the groups from running for political office and comes ahead of parliamentary elections in September. The US State Department issued a statement yesterday criticizing the ruling.
