US announces sanctions on Russia

President Biden announced sanctions on Russia in response to actions taken against US sovereignty and interests. The order cites a wide range of Russian actions, including efforts to undermine global elections, malicious cyber activities (e.g. the SolarWinds attack), fostering transnational corruption, and violating “well-established principles of international law.” The sanctions target over 30 individuals and entities, prohibit US financial institutions from engaging in certain Ruble-related transactions, and expel 10 Russian diplomats from the US.
