Russia detains opposition leader Alexei Navalny

Russia detained opposition leader Alexei Navalny over the weekend, as he returned from Germany (where he recovered after being poisoned by a nerve agent in August). A Russian court subsequently ordered Navalny to remain in custody for 30 days. Navalny is the most prominent political opponent to President Putin.
