The New York City school principals’ union called for Mayor Bill De Blasio to cede control of the public school system to the state education department for the remainder of the coronavirus outbreak after passing a “vote of no confidence” yesterday. The union accused De Blasio of entering into “grossly irresponsible staffing agreements that fail to prioritize the needs of school children and their families” (source) and the announcement comes as the nation’s largest school system grapples with how to safely reopen (including two recent delays).
