Protests over police brutality continue in Nigeria

Thousands of protestors have gathered in Nigeria this week in ongoing demonstrations against police brutality. The protests initially focused on a police unit known as Sars (the “Special Anti-Robbery Squad”), which has been accused of theft, violent attacks, and murder. Nigerian authorities announced plans to disband and replace the unit, but demonstrations continued yesterday as protestors called for widespread reform.

Extra: The ongoing protests have also been met with violence according to Amnesty International, with at least 10 people being killed and hundreds more being injured.
