Microsoft releases results from underwater data center test

Microsoft released results from an “underwater data center” test yesterday, finding that the concept is “logistically, environmentally and economically practical.” The company submerged a small data center (roughly the size of a shipping container) off the coast of Scotland in 2018 as part of the experiment, and hopes to leverage the results of the test in its future data center sustainability strategy.
