Eli Lilly receives emergency authorization for second coronavirus treatment

The FDA granted emergency authorization for an Eli Lilly arthritis drug to be used in combination with remdesivir (made by Gilead) for certain hospitalized coronavirus patients. The drug is Lilly's second to receive emergency authorization for the treatment of the coronavirus.

Extra: Separately, Pfizer and BioNTech announced that they will request emergency use authorization for their coronavirus vaccine today. The vaccine was found to be 95% effective in late-stage clinical trials. If approved, the vaccine could be available in limited quantities by mid-December.
