Judge temporarily blocks US ban on TikTok downloads

A federal judge temporarily blocked a Trump administration ban on TikTok downloads in the US yesterday. The ban was initially announced by the Commerce Department earlier this month (following an executive order issued by President Trump in August), and the judge’s decision comes as TikTok seeks approval for a proposed transaction involving Oracle and Walmart.

Extra: Meanwhile, a second (and broader) set of restrictions on TikTok included in the Commerce Department’s initial announcement is still set to take effect in November.
