US economy loses 140k jobs in December

The US economy lost 140k jobs in December and the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 6.7%. The December tally marks the first monthly decline since last April. Total nonfarm payrolls (i.e. jobs in the US economy) have partially recovered from a coronavirus-driven decline earlier this year, they remain down over 6% from pre-coronavirus levels.
