Jazz Pharma acquires GQ Pharma

Jazz Pharmaceuticals announced plans to acquire GW Pharmaceuticals for $7.2B yesterday. GW focuses on cannabis-based products, and its drug Epidiolex (which treats epilepsy) was the first plant-derived cannabinoid medicine to receive FDA approval. The announcement comes amid continued growth in the cannabis segment, including expanded pharmaceutical applications as well as growing adoption of medicinal and recreational marijuana at the state level.
