Hundreds of thousands of farmers launched a nationwide strike in India yesterday. The strike follows two weeks of protests against a series of government reforms that would loosen rules on the sale, pricing, and storage of crops (and potentially interfere with existing wholesale markets and pricing floors). The two sides are expected to continue discussions on the reforms today.
