HHS announces new initiatives to speed up vaccine distribution

Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar announced a series of initiatives aimed at speeding up coronavirus vaccine distribution yesterday, including a recommendation that states expand access to all people aged 65 and older and anyone with a high-risk pre-existing condition. Azar also announced plans to release a reserve of vaccines currently being held for second doses, noting that production capacity has increased to a point that the reserve is no longer required.
