Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was found guilty of corruption and sentenced to three years in prison this morning. Sarkozy, who served as president from 2007 to 2012, was accused of bribing a senior magistrate in 2014 in exchange for information about a criminal inquiry into his political party.
Extra: Sarkozy is scheduled to face a second trial later this month (along with 13 others) on charges related to campaign finance violations in 2012.
