Federal judge blocks deportation pause

A federal judge blocked the Biden administration from enforcing a 100-day moratorium on deportations yesterday, ruling that the moratorium violated federal law. The DHS paused deportations for certain noncitizens in January while it reviewed the US’ immigration enforcement system, prompting Texas to file a lawsuit claiming that the moratorium violated federal law and risked imposing additional costs on the state.
