The FDA published a report suggesting that Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine met the success criteria required for emergency approval yesterday. The documents were released ahead of an advisory panel meeting tomorrow to discuss emergency use authorization. If approved, the vaccine would be the second to receive emergency authorization in the US.
More context: The US government has purchased 200M doses of Moderna’s vaccine, of which 20M will be distributed by the end of this year.
Extra: The Moderna vaccine uses mRNA, the same genetic tool as the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech.
