FDA and CDC recommend pausing use of Johnson and Johnson vaccine

The FDA and CDC recommended pausing the use of Johnson & Johnson’s coronavirus vaccine “out of an abundance of caution,” following six reported cases of blood clotting in people who received the vaccine. The agencies noted that the adverse events appear to be “extremely rare,” as over 6.8M doses of the vaccine have been administered to date. A CDC advisory panel is meeting tomorrow to review the cases, and the agencies are holding a press conference today at 10am ET (watch).
