Farmer strikes continue in India
Farmer strikes in India continued yesterday, with protest leaders engaging in a one-day hunger strike and thousands of others shutting down highways in the capital city of New Delhi. The demonstrations mark the latest in a months-long (and recently-intensifying) protest against a series of government reforms that would loosen rules on the sale, pricing, and storage of crops (and potentially interfere with existing wholesale markets and pricing floors).
