EU approves Moderna vaccine

EU regulators approved Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine yesterday, authorizing the drug for its 448M inhabitants (across its 27 member states). The greenlight follows earlier approvals in the US and Canada, where distribution has already started. Distribution in some EU states is expected to start as soon as next week.

Extra: The vaccine is the second to receive EU approval, following the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine (which was approved in December).
