The Environmental Protection Agency finalized emissions standards for commercial airplanes yesterday. The rules, which were modeled after the UN’s International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, mark the first time that greenhouse gas emissions will be regulated for commercial aircraft in the US.
Extra: The EPA noted that the rules will apply to airplanes that account for 10% of US transportation-related emissions and 3% of total US emissions (source).
