Electoral College formally elects Biden as next president

The Electoral College voted yesterday, formally electing Joe Biden as the next president by a margin of 306-232. The electoral votes will be formally tallied by Congress in a joint session on January 6, followed by inauguration day on January 20. Meanwhile, early voting in Georgia’s Senate runoff began yesterday. The election is scheduled for January 5, and the outcome will determine which party controls the Senate.
