DOJ sues to block Visa acquisition of Plaid

The Justice Department filed a lawsuit to block Visa’s $5B acquisition of financial technology company Plaid, citing antitrust concerns and suggesting that Visa engages in monopolistic behavior in the online debit market. Visa announced plans to acquire Plaid (which enables applications to connect with user bank accounts) in January.
