The DOJ proposed draft legislation that would limit liability protections for technology platforms (e.g. Twitter and Facebook) related to content posted by users and the platforms' content moderation practices. The proposal follows an executive order signed by President Trump in May that called for a review of the protections (which are included in Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996). The DOJ’s initial recommendations were published in June, and the draft legislation (unveiled yesterday) was sent to Congress for review.
