Federal judge orders Trump administration to restore DACA
A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to fully restore DACA last week. The Obama-era immigration program aims to protect undocumented immigrants brought to the US as children (known as “Dreamers”) from deportation. The ruling marks the latest in a series of legal proceedings related to DACA, including a Supreme Court ruling in June (which invalidated a 2017 attempt to end the program) and a lower court ruling in November (which effectively invalidated restrictions on new applications for the program).
