Ghana became the first country to receive coronavirus vaccines under the World Health Organization’s COVAX program yesterday. The initiative aims to help member nations insure themselves against the failure of any individual vaccine candidate by pooling resources among participants. The program also aims to ensure “fair and equitable” vaccine access across over 150 participating nations.
Extra: Separately, the FDA published an analysis this morning finding that Johnson & Johnson's single-dose coronavirus vaccine is safe and effective, paving the way for emergency use authorization in the US as early as this weekend.
