The US, EU, UK, and Canada announced coordinated sanctions against China in response to the human rights abuses of Uighur Muslims. The sanctions follow a series of US and international measures condemning the “arbitrary detention, torture, and harassment” of over 1M Uighurs and other ethnic minorities in the northwestern Xinjiang region of China.
Extra: The US and Canada declared China’s repression of Uighur Muslims to be genocide earlier this year.
