CDC releases guidelines to reopen schools

The CDC released new guidelines for reopening schools on Friday. The new guidance calls for a “layered” approach to transmission mitigation (i.e. universal mask use in combination with physical distancing) and notes that many schools have been able to safely reopen (and remain open) after implementing the mitigation tactics. While the guidelines do not provide a specific timeline for reopening schools, they aim to help state and local officials decide when (and how) to safely reopen. Read the guidelines here.
