The CDC updated its physical distance recommendations for K-12 schools, now suggesting that students remain at least 3 feet apart in classrooms where mask use is universal. The guidelines also note that middle and high school students in “communities where transmission is high” remain at least 6 feet apart if cohorting is not possible. The revised guidelines come as state and local officials determine when (and how) to safely reopen for in-person learning.
