California reports first case of new, more transmissible coronavirus variant
California reported its first known case of the new, more transmissible coronavirus variant yesterday. The new strain has now been reported in Colorado and California (after initially emerging in the UK), but health officials have said there is no evidence thus far of a higher mortality rate or a resistance to current vaccines.
