Wildfires in California have now burned over 4M acres this year according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The tally is more than double the previous record, and will likely increase as over 16k firefighters combat 23 “major” fires across the state. The department also noted that ~8k structures have been destroyed and 31 people have died in wildfires this year.
