Bumble surges in IPO

Online dating app Bumble went public yesterday, with shares rising by over 60% on its first day of trading. Bumble was launched in 2014 as a women-first dating platform and is currently led by 31-year-old founder and CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd. The company has also expanded into more nascent categories of friend-focused matchmaking and professional networking.

More context: Online matchmaking platforms have surged in popularity in recent years, due in part to the rise of “dating apps” including Bumble, Tinder, and others.
